New eBay Partner Network Ready To Launch eBay announced a migration of it’s affiliate program from CJ (commision junction) to it’s own in-house platform named The eBay Partner Network today. Many webmasters are currently using BANS affiliate link building software that will instantly become obsolete and others are using versions of phpbay pro that will also suffer the same effects. Bans website owners would be wise to “patch” their sites before then and phpBay software users will need to make changes as well. (scroll to bottom for official phpBay email response). Bans (build a niche site) owners won’t SEE anything change on their sites but when eBay pulls out of its commision junction commitment the links will no longer contain proper refferal code, making it hard to get paid.

The eBay partner network launched April 1st and the cj accounts will continue to track correctly for one month afterwards before being closed. Here is the official press release. SAN JOSE, Calif.,– March 17, 2008 – Today eBay unveiled the eBay Partner Network, a new global affiliate program for publishers driving traffic to eBay.

Officially launching on April 1st, 2008, the eBay Partner Network will be eBay’s new in-house affiliate network, designed to more fully align the programs across eBay’s global properties and give affiliates expanded access to revenue opportunities across its platforms. Since 2001 eBay has enabled affiliates and Web site publishers to be paid for all traffic driven to eBay. With one of the most competitive payouts in the industry and one of the broadest and deepest product selections available to affiliates, the eBay Partner Network will continue to help eBay extend the reach of its platforms to the edges of the Web. The new in-house program will allow eBay to more closely align the program with the needs of its publishers and the eBay Community, and will eventually engage all of eBay’s assets to create one of the most robust affiliate networks in existence.

“Affiliate partners are central to eBay’s ongoing strategy of improving the user experience and increasing engagement,” said Matt Ackley, vice president of Internet marketing at eBay. “The new eBay Partner Network will allow us to have a direct relationship with our affiliates, innovate faster and deliver new products and tools in a more timely and efficient manner, providing new revenue opportunities for our affiliates and creating a more streamlined user experience for our buyers and sellers.” The eBay Affiliate Program has more than 100,000 members globally and continues to be one of the most successful tools for driving buyers to eBay. Coupling access to the unparalleled scope of eBay’s global marketplace with industry-leading tools and a dedicated support staff, eBay ensures all types of Web site publishers, from the casual blogger to the experienced Internet entrepreneur, are able find success through profitable affiliate marketing.

As part of the move to an in-house affiliate network, eBay and Half.com will no longer run their affiliate programs through ValueClick’s Commission Junction platform. EBay’s Tradera AB, ProStores, Inc, Reseller Marketplace, Media Marketplace, eBay Stores and StubHub will not be affected and will continue their relationship with Commission Junction. EBay affiliates working with other platforms including, Affilinet and TradeDoubler will not be affected. Affected eBay and Half.com affiliates will be required to move their affiliate links over to the eBay Partner Network by May 1st, 2008.

EBay will continue its valued partnership with ValueClick’s technology division, Mediaplex, for ad serving, tracking and other custom projects. More information on the transition process for eBay affiliates, as well as the eBay programs affected, can be found at And here is a speedy email response from Wade over at wiredstudios, creator of phpBay. Hello, The news has cause a lot of anxiety and generated massive amounts of emails. I’ve posted updates on my website, on the product page and on the forum. Ebay has not released the new affiliate identifier that will be used, yet. In phpBay, for the WordPress plugin, one simply chooses the Affiliate provider there (CJ, TradeDoubler, Mediaplex or Affilinet). I’ll simply add the new identifier and customers will then enter their new Ebay affiliate ID.

Program

The common misperception seems to be that the affiliate program is going away. That’s simply not the case. In fact, as it moves in-house, Ebay will be offering even more tools and capabilities. Once ebay releases the pertinent information, I will be updating the software immediately. Though we have a month to migrate from CJ to their in-house program, I will be implementing the update immediately as it becomes available.

Kind regards, Wade Great stuff wade – I HIGHLY recommend using Wade’s. This entry was posted on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 at 11:16 pm and is filed under.
